Welcome to Geoaccess.org

Geoaccess.org is about fostering more accessible travel, transportation, and tourism by applying geo-data: detailed information about locations and their features that can help travelers plan, navigate, and manage better. GeoAccess will cover topics in accessible geolocation, including:

  • R&D on geolocation apps that include accessibility information
  • Geolocation apps that are accessible themselves
  • Crowd-sourced information about accessibility, such as transit system elevator outages
  • Policy developments that affect geolocation
  • Local implementations and their accessibility

We hope you will join us to continue and expand this collaboration.

FastMall for IOS and Android lets you download mall maps with details on stores, restrooms, elevators/escalators, etc. This is not an Internet or GPS app, but it does some pretty cool stuff, is sort of compatible with VoiceOver (see the AppleVis review), and they feature the disability implications on their home page.

Whenever lines intersect, the one being 'hit' acts like a string in that it bends and is released, generating a musical tone. So after a few minutes you are hearing an oddly Asian string concert.
